About The Book

This book is a wake-up call to the public and to the insurance industry. It exposes the outrageous treatment of many legitimate claimants at the hands of auto insurers, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and disability carriers. Other than outright denials, claimants may have their benefits cut prematurely, with insurers hoping they won’t fight back.

I have written this book to speak for the thousands who have been silenced and continue to be silenced. It provides claimants with the informational tools to defend themselves against wrongful denials by guiding them through the insurer process. This includes insurer examinations, mediations, examinations for discovery and surveillance. The book also provides advice on how to cope and not give up.

A newly written section goes behind the scenes and exposes the world of insurer deception. It also looks at the ‘close working relationship’ between the insurance industry’s lobby group, the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and the provincial government’s auto insurance regulator. Stating that they are seeking to reduce premiums by 15%, there is another less tasteful reality to this working relationship. Hardly publicized is the fact that all benefits have been dramatically cut numerous times, leaving claimants in financial hardship and without sufficient treatment. The right to take an auto insurer to court for denied benefits has also been eliminated.
